In May 2017, SUMO was very honoured to sponsor the The Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon (THEM), one of The Wounded Pelicans charity’s 2017 Endurance Big 10 Projects.

The Wounded Pelicans is a charity founded by Christopher Evans (Tofes) and Antony Sedman (Ant). Both of them are an endurance duo based on the Gold Coast. In 2016, The Wounded Pelicans competed in 40 endurance events to raise some much needed funds for cancer research. In 2017 they are upping the ante with a plan to complete 10 extreme events to continue raising money for those who really need it. SUMO played a part in the Mt Everest Ultramarathon and helped flying Tofes there to achieve his dream.

SUMO congratulates Tofes’s marathon run to the top of MountEverest. We think it’s the first time (that we know of) that SUMO has gone up Mount Everest.
